Now, I’m no expert on politics but having just watched, the very first live election debate for UK politics that was aired on ITV1 tonight hosted by Alastair Stewart, I think it may have just confirmed my gut feeling about politics & politicians and my beautifully simplistic view I have always held.

As mentioned I’m no expert on this subject and this is somewhat out of my comfort zone writing this post and having come from a “Blue*” family growing up and living as an adult through a mainly “Red*” government, but my gut feeling which I have always held and I’ll explain later is proving to be coming true.

Something I do understand however is technology and I place my trust and confidence in the simple analysis of situations. The first thing that struck me was the referencing of this word Manifesto which as I understand it is where each party sets out it’s plans if they were to win (Simple Enough). So like any tech geek (or any modern person) I switched on my computer and “Googled” the word “Manifesto“, now I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to do this but I was shocked and absolutely appalled at my Google results I got back.

What just one useful result now not taking anything away from the superb wikipedia, but as you can quite clearly see because I then clicked on it there was just one Manifesto being offered to me for reading and that was the “Yellow” one. Ok the “Blue’s” did make the first page so well done to them but where are the “Reds”?? click page2… click page3… click page 4 ahh there they are half way down page 4. But wait what’s this it’s their 1997 Manifesto, I’m confused aren’t we in 2010 now? click page 5… etc etc and nothing. Come on if they can’t be bothered to post it online so its easy to find, I certainly can’t be bothered to read it if and when I do find it.

This is crazy! I’m no government but I can get a page to the top of Google when I want to, so why o why have the “two main parties” failed to pull this off? Because if I was less tech savvy than I am or if I had the average attention span of the average young adult I might have given up by this point. Lucky I did try again, this time I tried specifying I wanted just UK results for the same keyword.

Ok that was better, great the Yellow’s still showing their prowess for understanding Google’s “complex algorithms” and securing the top spot, next up here come the “Blue’s” and …. what’s this the “Red’s” getting the Telegraph to do it’s dirty work! Interesting! Poor old “Red’s” being beaten by a Clothing company in Dundee.

Ok I’ve teased you enough, I’m a simple being and I have a unique understanding of the world and feel most day’s that what I see is very different to everyone else. Now when it came to politics I’ve never really had much to do with it, I would vote every year for who I thought should be in power and every year conduct a very unofficial poll amongst my friends family and peers to their preference. And that’s about it.

But when ever someone asked me for my opinion about politics, I’ve always given the exact same response.

Politics in my opinion is simple and is perhaps simplest described with a picture. Try and picture a linear graph and at one end place Conservatives I can them the “Blue party” it’s just simpler that way people have an understanding of colours and not of unrelated words. Then at the other end place Labour or “The Red Party”. Now place a fulcrum at the middle of the line, this is your pivot point from here you can tilt the bar so one colour will have more weight than the other and then you can tilt it back again. You can also spin the whole bar around 180 degrees this reflects the tactics of these two colours changing their minds about their stance on a subject matter. Now I’m not talking about the talk, I’m talking about their actions producing results.

Richard Branson's Simple Political View

The net result of this tooing and frowing is both colours just wanting the upper hand all the time and they’ll do and say what ever they needed to to get elected. The more extreme and the more radical the better, because that’s what gets the media’s attention.

It all really boils down to simple physical laws, the world and universe we all live in relies on maintaining a state of equilibrium, every single thing you can think off relies on this system bouncing from one extreme to another it is the only way to normalise for what is essentially the middle point. Now the middle point is where everyone wants to be they just find it extremely difficult to maintain it.

Now obviously I’m not looking here at individual situations, the main ones seeming to be school’s, healthcare, police, war and the elderly and I don’t really care much at the statements that any of the colours make on these matters, because what we actually want is to see the results where it matters. Not the reviews of those results just results in front of our eye’s. The more someone spouts facts and figures at me the more I know they are lieing and making up the figures to show what they are trying to prove. Unfortunately its the oldest trick in the book you can make stats say what ever you like if you are skillful enough.

To some up the evenings viewing in my opinion I saw two school boys learning to be salesman and one sympathetic, understand and honest leader.

“Honest Nick Clegg, said look beyond 2 old parties!”

“Negative Brown, well was just lieing, dishonest, and lets face it too ugly to run the country.”

“Positive Cameron, was up beat and hopeful.”

That’s it that’s my post on politics insightful and opinionated but best of all simple. Thanks for reading and happy voting.

Please remember that it is vital to vote! If you don’t cast a vote at a polling station you are actually voting for the winning party. Please remember this it is very important, because if you don’t vote you have no rights to complain about stuff when it goes against you.

We do need to change the system though. We need a “none of the above vote”. Now they know that if they give us just that they get a winning “none of the above party”, so they best we can hope for is vote in order system. If we get that my vote will be as follows.

None of the Above

Green

Yellow

Blue

Red

Well you have to hand it to them, I think they may have just done it again.

The revolutionary new Apple ipad has arrived, (well in the US anyway) it may have been the worst kept secret on the Internet yet but when something appears to be this great it’s no real surprise that bits got leaked. But I still managed to get the name wrong, just 4 days ago I tweeted about the prospective name of this new Apple product.

“Really looking forward to owning a islate or inetbook or what ever it ends up being called. You’ve got to love Apple. http://mashable.com – 3:07 PM Jan 24th from the web“

So it’s the ipad that certainly makes much more sense than iNetbook that’s for sure! However iNetbook describes exactly the positioning of this new Mac product. Have just finished watching the Key Note Launch of the ipad held in Paris today, presented by Steve Jobs and co. And I have to say I definitely have the same feeling I did when they show cased my Aluminium Macbook and the new iPhone 3Gs (which I’m picking up on Saturday, yes that long wait has almost killed me).

Media coverage

Well so far the only traditional media coverage I’ve been subjected to is on BBC Radio 1 “Newsbeat” “news report”, it almost seems criminal to call it a report! The managed to do their usual trick of finding the dumbest and chaviest people in London to interview and boy do they talk some sh1t.

“I wouldn’t be seen dead with one of those in South London”

For goodness sake Radio1 you really need to learn how to give a balance true reflection of the “average” person. I was not in London today so was not able to take a trip down to the Apple’s store on Oxford street in fact not even sure it’s there yet as it was only the US launch today, but I can guarantee that when it does arrive there will be a que round the block of people waiting to play with one and an even bigger que of people at the tills.

As mentioned I’m way behind things as I’m just getting my iPhone now as they have only just released it on the Vodafone network my UK network of choice so I still have not had the full pleasure of experiencing the remarkable pleasure of using the ultra slick touch screen apart from every time I come within 3 feet of a friends that I grab out their hands and start playing with. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be not too far down the que on Regents street to add the iPad to my collection of Apple gadgets.

You could say I just can’t get enough Apple’s in my diet!

POST NOT QUITE FINISHED SORRY

Every day we all get asked at least one question by someone we know, whether it be a friend or family member or a pier at work. When you think about it its very complementary to be asked a question, no matter what it is. The act of asking questions is a basic fundamental skill that defines us as humans. This is a skill we have developed that enables us to learn at an accelerated rate compared to other species. How you might ask?

Well we know that when we ask someone who has more experience about something than we do we are able to tap into their knowledge on that subject, no matter how big or small the question. Gaining this knowledge directly from someone we think may know the answer is basically a short cut to the knowledge or even skill.

Therefore logic suggests that the more questions we ask the faster we learn the more ‘intelligent we will become’.

So how many questions did you ask today?

Therefore the more questions you are asked in a day is a direct reflection of how intelligent you are.

So how many were you asked today?

Some of the question’s people asked of me today.

How do I read a .rar file?

What is the approximate cost of a 62″ TV & Outdoor PA system?

So get motivated and set the goal of how many questions can I answer for other people today and never ever leave a question unanswered. Enjoy and be inspired. Richard Branson

Ok I’ve been online since 1999 and been designing websites for others since 2004. However despite a few half hearted attempts at a personal website/blog however you consider sites like this I have always failed miserably to produce anything of substance.

Basically life has always gotten in the way, work, sports, hobbies, learning all these things have kept me extremely busy and not being the most literate of self confessed geeks, I’ve always floundered at the first hurdle of putting pen to paper (well tapping of the keys).

Finally getting my iPhone :-)

However at last I feel my life and technology has finally come to a equilibrium as now sitting on the verge of adding the superb iPhone 3Gs to my list of gadgets (now that Vodafone have finally got the rights to sell it on their network), I now feel ready to be able to properly maintain my own personal website on the World Wide Web.

So drive in and stay tuned, I’ll be updating this site daily to detail the passions that fill up my life. At the moment these currently fall under the following banners. Tech, Green Living, Marketing & Wellbeing.

Enjoy & be inspired Richard Branson
